Friday’s Rio Nightlife Pick: Jam da Silva hails from the birthplace of Manguebeat, the Northeastern capital of Recife. Having absorbed that potent blend of traditional music with modern sensibilities, he has been playing since age eleven, and, other than four years at the Federal University of Pernambuco, has picked up most of his inspiration from the cobblestone streets of historic Recife, where he is never without an audio recorder. A studious, infectious musician who’s Rio appearance is not to be missed at Studio RJ.
