Collapse of a 5-story building in Brazil’s Belo Horizonte

In the early hours of this Wednesday (Sep. 21), a five-story building collapsed in the Planalto neighborhood of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais.

According to preliminary information from the fire department, an older woman died, and three injured were removed from the scene.

Only two building apartments were occupied, but only one family was on-site at the time of the accident.

The collapse occurred in a neighboring apartment building, which was also unoccupied.

The family involved in the accident consisted of four people: an elderly couple and two daughters.

The father and daughters were pulled alive from the rubble by Samu (Mobile Emergency Care Service) and taken to a hospital in the area.

The mother was found dead on the spot.

There is no information yet on the cause of the collapse.

According to the fire department, the Civil Defense and the Civil Police of Minas Gerais are working on the case.
