Brazilian coffee exports fall 13.3% in the 2021/22 harvest, but revenue is a record
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil exported 39.6 million 60-kilo bags of coffee during the 2021/22 harvest, which ended in June, a 13.3% drop compared to the previous season, the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé) informed on July 13.
On the other hand, the revenue registered a record of US$8.1 billion in the harvest, a high of 38.7%.
“Despite the drop in volume compared to the 2020/21 season, a year of record harvest in Brazil, the amount shipped from July 2021 to June 2022 is within the average of the last five harvests, which is 39.5 million bags,” said the entity’s president, Günter Häusler.

He emphasized that, because of a crop with reduced supply, due to the low biennial cycle of Arabica plantations, and all the existing logistical bottlenecks, with high freight costs, bookings cancellations, cargo roll-overs, and less availability of containers and space on ships, the performance recorded in 2021/22 is positive.
