Brazil may have strongest cold wave of the year this week, warns Climatempo

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Temperatures are expected to drop this week, according to Climatempo.

The weather forecast is for the arrival of a new polar air mass, which should form early Thursday morning, June 9, bringing cold to the entire Center-South region of Brazil.

New records of low temperatures may be recorded, meteorologists say.

According to Climatempo, temperatures begin to fall in the eastern and southern areas of Rio Grande do Sul and the mountains.

The same should happen in the mountainous regions of Santa Catarina and Paraná, the interior of São Paulo, and some areas of Mato Grosso do Sul.

“This intense cold also enters the continent’s interior, decreasing temperatures in the south of Rondônia and Acre, and the southwest of Amazonas,” says Climatempo.

According to meteorologists, Saturday, June 11, should be cold, with the possibility of temperatures below zero degrees between southern Paraná and northern Rio Grande do Sul.

On Sunday, June 12, frost is expected in the morning in the southern states and in some areas of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul.

“The models indicate that this new cold wave could be the strongest of the year so far, especially in the South of Brazil. But the effects will be felt in the Southeast, Center-West, and part of the North of the country,” warns Climatempo.
