Former president Bolsonaro plans a triumphant return to Brazil 

Brazil’s former president Jair Bolsonaro has spent nearly three months in the United States.

During that time, his supporters had stormed several buildings in the government district in Brasilia, demanding to recount the votes and questioning the victory of Lula da Silva.

Now they are expected to give their leader a hero’s welcome.

Bolsonaro has told his closest confidants that he plans to drive around in a convertible when he arrives in the country on Thursday (30).

If he gets his wish, the former president’s route would be from the Brasília airport to his home in Lago Sul.

The former head of state will arrive at around 7:30 am (local time) on Thursday.

According to local media reports, Bolsonaro’s supporters will accompany the former president throughout the trip.

Decisions on the security arrangements to be made by the government in Brasília are still pending.

It is already confirmed that Bolsonaro will be received by a group consisting of former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro, Liberal Party (PL) President Valdemar Costa Neto, PL leaders in Congress, and National Secretary for Institutional Relations Walter Braga Netto.

Another open issue is whether Bolsonaro will meet with party members and close associates.

It is known that the PL has set up a room at party headquarters that the former president can use to receive members of the deputy and senate benches.

However, it has not been confirmed that the former president will go there.

Caravans of supporters were to be organized in different parts of the country.

After considering this possibility, they decided not to carry out the plan, fearing that events would get out of hand or that they would face reprisals from the Supreme Federal Court.

However, the group believes that smaller caravans can be organized.
