Bolsonaro’s friends and allies dominate digital popularity index in Brazil

For those wondering why the Lula 3 government is so keen to ‘regulate’ (i.e., censor) the Internet and social networks, here is the real reason behind the official explanation.

It’s about shutting up the competition for good.

Brazil has become a conservative country where the vocabulary of the left no longer attracts the masses, apart from the notoriously underdeveloped northeast, which is the country’s epitome of dysfunctionality.

Led by the charismatic conservative rising star Nikolas Ferreira from the state of Minas Gerais, the list of digital popularity on the Internet is dominated by right-wing congress members.

This is according to the Digital Popularity Index (IPD) compiled by the Quaest Institute and Genial Investimentos.

An independent name occupies the second place: the evangelical motivator Fábio Teruel (MDB-SP). PT party (Lula Party) member André Janones is third.

All the rest of the list are followers of former president Jair Bolsonaro: Mauríco Marcon, Eduardo Bolsonaro, Tiririca, André Fernandes, Bia Kicis, and Marcel Van Hatten.

In the Senate, it’s Bolsonaro again.

All ten congressmen at the top of the Digital Popularity Index oppose the Lula 3 government.

Cleitinho Azevedo tops the list. Next come: Flávio Bolsonaro, Sergio Moro, Romário, Magno Malta, Damares Alves, Marcos do Val, Hamilton Mourão, Rogério Marinho, and Astronaut Marcos Pontes.

The Digital Popularity Index measures the performance of parliamentarians on the networks based on 152 variables analyzed in six digital platforms.

The opposition bloc in the House obtained an IPD of 17.3, while the governing bloc got 15.2.

In the Senate, the disparity is even more significant: 16.9 for the governing bloc versus 23.4 for the opposition.
