Argentina acquires 60 Carl Gustaf M4 anti-tank systems from Saab

The Argentine Army (EA) announced the direct procurement of anti-tank weapons from Saab. The required material includes cannons, missile systems, tracer ammunition, and training simulators.

In the first place, according to the technical specifications presented by the General Directorate of Materials, 60 Carl Gustaf M4 recoilless cannons with telescopic sights and their maintenance and operation tool kits are requested.

Secondly, the system for anti-tank firing with Carl Gustaf 553B subcaliber with a range of 700 meters is required. Along with it, adapters, a batch of 6,240 7.62 mm tracer ammunition, and another of 6,900 initiator capsules are requested.

Finally, the EA plans to incorporate two BT46 Carl Gustaf M4 laser training simulators. These simulators will be a replica of the real combat weapon, with which the trainer can train using all the controls and indicators of the real weapon.

The Force details that these simulators shall include a red dot sight and a telescopic sight mount.

DIRECT CONTRACTING

This material will not be required through a bidding process but through a Direct Contracting process in which the Argentine State has selected Saab as its supplier.

The company will have to submit its offer when the process opens next Friday, October 28.

The delivery term for the required material is three years, or 1,095 calendar days, from the contract document’s execution date.

The place of delivery will be the Defense Fiscal Depot, the port of Buenos Aires, or the Ezeiza airport.
