Set up like speed dating, native English speakers will be paired up with native Portuguese speaker at tables. The pairs will then speak English for 5 minutes followed by Portuguese for 5 minutes. After those ten minutes, each speaker will move on to a new table and conversation partner.
It’s both fun and educational and the R$10 entrance cost includes free food.
Additionally, Clashing Clouds, Nove Zero Nove and Rosie’s Cabaret will perform live beginning at 8PM following the Language Exchange.

At 7:30PM, composer and pianist João Roberto Kelly is back again at Rio Scenarium to get things started this Tuesday night with the best of MPB including his own compositions, as well as, his reinterpretations of the works of Tom Jobim, Ary Barroso, and Noel Rosa, among others. Then at 10:30PM singer-songwriter and guitarist Edu Krieger will follow with a performance including his own compositions and his covers of some of the best Brazilian music.

The premiere edition of Gringo Halloween continues at Gringo Café. Tonight through November 1st, the American bar and diner is showing two Halloween-themed movies each night. Tim Burton’s cult-classic, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” will play at 7PM tonight, followed by “Twilight Zone” at 9PM. The Gringo Cafe is well known for bringing all things great about America to Ipanema, including beers, food, atmosphere and traditional holiday celebrations.
