Wales is now home to the world’s deepest hotel, located 420 meters below the ground in the Cwmorthin slate mine near Snowdonia.

Known as ‘Deep Sleep,’ this facility opened in April, providing adventurous guests with a truly unique experience.

To reach the hotel, visitors must embark on a challenging journey that involves rock climbing, descending twisting staircases used by miners, and crossing ruined bridges, taking approximately 45 minutes.

Comfort should be left behind as the hotel offers only four private cabins with basic amenities such as two single beds, a dining area, and a simple bathroom.

Managed by outdoor company Go Below, this is considered a remote camping adventure experience.

The hotel is open for one night a week, exclusively on Saturdays, and guests meet their guides at a designated base near Blaenau Ffestiniog at 5 pm.

From there, they embark on the underground expedition to reach the accommodations.

During the journey, visitors receive personal protective equipment and historical information about the mine.

It takes approximately an hour to descend to the hotel. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with hot drinks and an expedition-style meal before settling in for the night.

The average temperature in the mine is 10 degrees Celsius, so warm clothing is essential for enjoying the common areas.

The cabins are described as cozy, equipped with thermal insulation, running water, and battery-powered electricity.

Although there is Wi-Fi, mobile signals do not reach the underground location.

The following morning, guests enjoy a simple breakfast before ascending back to the surface.

Prior to Deep Sleep, the world’s deepest hotel room was a suite located 154 meters underground in the Sala silver mine in Sweden.

A night’s stay in the Deep Sleep cabin for two people costs £350 and includes all meals, while the full cave experience is priced at £550.
