RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Several hotels in Rio de Janeiro are preparing to welcome the teams, staff and families of the England, Holland and Italy football (soccer) teams for the coming World Cup. O Globo reports the squads will be staying at the Caesar Park in Ipanema, the Royal Tulip (formerly the Intercontinental) in São Conrado and the Portobello Resort & Safari in Mangaratiba, south of the city.
In addition to the players, each team will bring with them their own coaches, security staff and catering teams for around two weeks before the tournament starts on June 12th up until the final on July 13th, depending if they make it that far.
The England team will be staying at the Golden Tulip, but training at the center for army physical training (Centro de Capacitacao Fisica do Exercitoin) in Urca. The Three Lions have brought with them an English chef who will travel with the team and prepare meals to be served in a private dining room.
The Italy team are both staying and training 100 km outside of Rio at the Portobello Resort & Safári and have complete exclusivity to the property. The resort is fully equipped with two FIFA standard training pitches, a helipad and its very own runway. They player’s families will also be allowed to stay at the hotel and the team have also brought their own catering team.
Holland meanwhile will stay at the Ceasar Park in Ipanema while using Flamengo’s training facilities in Gávea. The Dutch team is using the same facilities they used in 2011 when they visited Rio de Janeiro to play Brazil in a friendly.
