Rio Hosts Artisanal Beer and Food Festival in Santa Teresa

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Another edition of the “Cervejeresa” beer and food festival opens in Santa Teresa today, December 14th. Over twenty artisanal beer labels will participate in the event, which will be taking place in some of Santa`s coolest bars until this Sunday, December 17th.

Happening for the second consecutive year, the “Cervejeresa” (conjunction of the words “cerveja” and “Teresa”) aims to promote the young and promising artisanal beer labels produced in Rio`s state.

The partnership between Santa`s bars and new beer labels is one of Cervejeresa`s special features. Each participant venue is responsible for hosting one of the twenty beer brands, harmonized with a culinary specialty exclusively created for the event.

At Adega do Pimenta, whose German-Brazilian dishes are among the favorites of Santa`s residents, a robust duck rice will be specially served for the festival. Adega will also be promoting the draught beer of Mafia Chicago, a Premium Lager of intense flavor made of malt and hop.

The charming Cafe do Alto will be offering two different combinations. Those looking for a refined option should try the grilled scallop with butter and lemon zest, accompanied by the draught Viper Golden Ale. Inspired in the Northeastern cuisine, the second menu, made of “coalho” cheese, jerked beef, mashed pumpkin and “corda” beans, goes well with the De Janeiro Reboucas, an India Pale Ale with citric flavors.

Run by Chilean, Israeli and American expatriates, the Explorer Bar will be hosting the Valhala Witbier, a traditional Belgium wheat beer recipe spiced up with cardamom and Persian lime. At Tribas, one can try the creative “sushi pizza”, made of salmon, cream cheese, sesame and chives, along with the Surreal Walu, an American wheat beer made with Australian hop.

Besides the above mentioned venues, Bar do Mineiro, Mama Shelter, Nega Tereza, Simplesmente, Zappa Burguer, Maloca Carioca, Esquina de Santa and Bar do Bonde will also take part of “Cervejeresa”, hosting labels like Kuruma, Veneno Bella Donna, Uma and D`alaje.

Organized by Santa Teresa’s Friends and Entrepreneurs Association (Amesanta), the festival happens from 11AM to 11PM.
