Tonight’s Vibe Menu
Sunday is the Rio de Janeiro nightlife week’s gentle close — and today carries three events that transcend the regular circuit. Daniel Buren’s Voile/Toile closes today at the MAM — the eleven vertical-striped Optimist sails that have been floating in the reflecting pool of the Museu de Arte Moderna since the exhibition opened. This is the French artist’s first Brazilian presentation. After today, they are gone. Free. 10h–18h. Parque do Flamengo. At the same Flamengo waterfront, the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix Day 2 brings the final races of SailGP’s South American debut — F50 catamarans in Guanabara Bay, Martine Grael leading the Brazil team, the championship’s winner-takes-all Grand Final. At Vivo Rio, Roxette “Live – Back Again!” at 9 pm — Per Gessle takes the catalogue of worldwide hits back on stage, joined by touring partner Lena Philipsson. Sweden’s second-most-successful pop act after ABBA, over sixty million records sold, “The Look,” “It Must Have Been Love,” “Listen to Your Heart,” “Joyride” — the songs that defined a generation. The 2026 tour follows the 2025 run that proved the catalogue’s enduring power, with the addition of a new duet, “Bad Blood.” The regular circuit runs at Sunday pace: Blue Note Rio Sunday single session at 7 pm. Bip Bip Sunday samba from 8 pm. Beco do Rato 6 pm–1 am. Nova Capela daily. The Scenarium, Gema and Circo Voador are dark until Tuesday/Wednesday. This is part of The Rio Times’ daily Rio de Janeiro nightlife coverage for expats and visitors. Warm — 27 °C, 20 % rain. A comfortable Sunday.

1MAM — Daniel Buren Voile/Toile — FINAL DAY

Art · Closing · Free

This is the last day. Daniel Buren’s Voile/Toile at the Museu de Arte Moderna — eleven Optimist dinghy sails, each bearing Buren’s signature 8.7 cm vertical stripes, floating in the MAM’s reflecting pool against the Parque do Flamengo landscape — closes tonight at 18h. Buren, born in 1938, is one of the most important living artists in the world: his striped columns in the Palais-Royal courtyard, his installations at the Guggenheim Bilbao, his work at Monumenta in the Grand Palais. Voile/Toile is his first Brazilian presentation. The sails — part sculpture, part painting, part sport — sit at the intersection of art and the maritime culture that defines this city. Free entry. 10h–18h. Av. Infante Dom Henrique 85, Parque do Flamengo. The SailGP Race Stadium is at the same waterfront — combine the Buren farewell with the final races. After today, the sails come down.

Pop · Sweden · 60M Records

Roxette “Live – Back Again!” at Vivo Rio at 9 pm. Per Gessle — the songwriter, guitarist, and co-founder of Sweden’s second-most-successful pop act after ABBA — takes the Roxette catalogue back on stage, joined by touring partner Lena Philipsson, one of Sweden’s biggest solo artists. It is nearly five years since Marie Fredriksson passed away, and the legacy of songs has continued to thrive. The 2025 tour proved the catalogue’s enduring power; for 2026, the journey continues with new material — including the duet “Bad Blood,” written by Gessle and co-produced with Alex Shield during the touring momentum. The setlist spans three decades: “The Look,” “It Must Have Been Love,” “Listen to Your Heart,” “Joyride,” “Fading Like a Flower,” “Dressed for Success” — over sixty million records distilled into a single Sunday evening on the Flamengo waterfront. Vivo Rio is at Av. Infante Dom Henrique, 85 — the same Parque do Flamengo address as the MAM Buren closing and the SailGP races. Three events, one waterfront, one Sunday. Tickets via Ticketmaster.

4Blue Note Rio + Bip Bip + Beco + Nova Capela

Sunday Circuit · Gentle

The regular circuit runs at Sunday pace. Blue Note Rio Sunday single session at 7 pm — one show, earlier than the weekday double bills. Check bluenoterio.com.br for tonight’s act. The calçadão opens for afternoon drinks. Bip Bip Sunday samba roda from 8 pm — the second samba night of the weekly rotation (Thursday and Sunday). The pavement on Rua Almirante Gonçalves at its Sunday best: relaxed, unhurried, the musicians playing to an audience that has nowhere else to be. Five minutes from the Blue Note. Check @rodadobip. Beco do Rato runs 6 pm–1 am on Sundays — shorter than Saturday’s 2 am, but the energy is concentrated and warm. Nova Capela keeps the kitchen late. The Copacabana pair (Blue Note + Bip Bip) and the Lapa anchor (Beco + Nova Capela) are the two parallel Sunday options.

Plan B
More today

The Flamengo triple — MAM Buren (free, 10h–18h), SailGP Day 2 (from 10 am, tickets), Roxette at Vivo Rio (9 pm, Ticketmaster). All three at the same Parque do Flamengo waterfront — Av. Infante Dom Henrique. The best single-location Sunday in Rio’s recent history. Start with racing, walk to the sails, return for Roxette. Metro Cinelândia or Largo do Machado.

CCBB Viva Mauricio — penultimate day — The Mauricio de Sousa exhibition (Turma da Mônica creator) closes tomorrow, April 13. Free. The CCBB is a short walk from the Flamengo waterfront — add it to the SailGP-Buren-Roxette circuit.

Copacabana boardwalk — Kiosks open, 27 °C, light breeze. The Blue Note calçadão opens in the afternoon. Bip Bip from 8 pm. The Copacabana Sunday circuit is gentle, unhurried, and pairs naturally with the evening Roxette show across the bay at Flamengo.

Cine Jazz calendar — The next Cine Jazz at Blue Note Rio is Wednesday, April 15: Electric Miles Band with Guilherme Dias Gomes & Victor Biglione — the session dedicated to electric Miles Davis. Then April 22: Coltrane Dusseldorf + Jorge Continentino. April 29: Coltrane Jazz Casual + Fernando Trocado. Every Wednesday in April.
