This is the last day. Daniel Buren’s Voile/Toile at the Museu de Arte Moderna — eleven Optimist dinghy sails, each bearing Buren’s signature 8.7 cm vertical stripes, floating in the MAM’s reflecting pool against the Parque do Flamengo landscape — closes tonight at 18h. Buren, born in 1938, is one of the most important living artists in the world: his striped columns in the Palais-Royal courtyard, his installations at the Guggenheim Bilbao, his work at Monumenta in the Grand Palais. Voile/Toile is his first Brazilian presentation. The sails — part sculpture, part painting, part sport — sit at the intersection of art and the maritime culture that defines this city. Roxette “Live – Back Again!” at Vivo Rio at 9 pm. Per Gessle — the songwriter, guitarist, and co-founder of Sweden’s second-most-successful pop act after ABBA — takes the Roxette catalogue back on stage, joined by touring partner Lena Philipsson, one of Sweden’s biggest solo artists. It is nearly five years since Marie Fredriksson passed away, and the legacy of songs has continued to thrive. The 2025 tour proved the catalogue’s enduring power; for 2026, the journey continues with new material — including the duet “Bad Blood,” written by Gessle and co-produced with Alex Shield during the touring momentum. The setlist spans three decades: “The Look,” “It Must Have Been Love,” “Listen to Your Heart,” “Joyride,” “Fading Like a Flower,” “Dressed for Success” — over sixty million records distilled into a single Sunday evening on the Flamengo waterfront. Day 2 of the Enel Rio Sail Grand Prix brings the final races and the winner-takes-all Grand Final to Guanabara Bay. After yesterday’s fleet races, today determines the podium. Thirteen national teams, F50 catamarans at 100+ km/h, the backdrop of Sugarloaf Mountain. Martine Grael and the Mubadala Brazil team racing on home waters. Great Britain leads the 2026 season standings. The Race Stadium at Praia do Flamengo — same location as the MAM and Vivo Rio. The Sunday daytime-to-afternoon programme: SailGP races during the day, Buren sails until 18h, Roxette at Vivo Rio at 9 pm. The entire Flamengo waterfront is one continuous event. The regular circuit runs at Sunday pace. Blue Note Rio Sunday single session at 7 pm — one show, earlier than the weekday double bills. Check bluenoterio.com.br for tonight’s act. The calçadão opens for afternoon drinks. Bip Bip Sunday samba roda from 8 pm — the second samba night of the weekly rotation (Thursday and Sunday). The pavement on Rua Almirante Gonçalves at its Sunday best: relaxed, unhurried, the musicians playing to an audience that has nowhere else to be. Five minutes from the Blue Note. Check @rodadobip. Beco do Rato runs 6 pm–1 am on Sundays — shorter than Saturday’s 2 am, but the energy is concentrated and warm. Nova Capela keeps the kitchen late. The Copacabana pair (Blue Note + Bip Bip) and the Lapa anchor (Beco + Nova Capela) are the two parallel Sunday options.
