(Sponsored) Brazilian cashback business, Meliuz, is aiming for an expansion strategy that involves making its stock available to US investors by listing it on Wall Street very soon.
Meliuz is a Bitcoin treasury company that became the first of its kind in Latin America. The company has been reported to be at the end stages of completing a deal where it will be listing its stock on U.S. markets.
This news was confirmed by the CEO of Meliuz, Israel Salmen, who broke the news last week via social media.
The setup is likely to take another 4 weeks before it becomes active, but will see the Bitcoin Treasury Company offer listings on OTCQX Market in the US for future investors.
Changing Business Strategies
Many companies have started to adopt cryptocurrencies into their business plans moving forward, following Bitcoin reaching record highs in 2025. Businesses are looking to include crypto into their longer-term plans and incorporate it into their revenue reserves.
Many business are keenly keeping their eyes on the fluctuating prices of not just Bitcoin but cryptocurrencies in general in order to allow more diverse investing options and additional ways of financing within the business.
Whilst many businesses are relying solely on Bitcoin, other companies have started to branch out and use a host of different cryptocurrencies in their business strategies.
For this to be effective, businesses need to analyse trends for stability or take risks where they may try to gamble on which crypto will give 1000x in 2025.
Meliuz is a strong proponent of using Bitcoin in its business plan. This new expansion comes on the back of the company accumulating almost 600 BTC since it switched to a Bitcoin company in May of this year.
The switch is also indicative of the wider ethos of the company.
They added in their statement that for them to be included in American markets, they need to comply with American laws, which means meeting high financial standards, coherent disclosures and good practice all around.
This is bound to fill investors with trust as they look to make inroads in the U.S.
What does this move mean for Meliuz investors?
Salmen has stated that the move will not require new shares or any fundraising for it to happen.
Instead, market makers can acquire a share of the company through the Brazilian Stock Exchange (B3), which will then be made available to trade in the United States by way of a dedicated ticker that deals in USD.
This essentially means that there will not be a full swap to US-based operations and instead will see the company operate out of Brazil but use an intermediary party to facilitate the movement of shares.
The move to crypto for Meliuz has been a true success story. Having only begun to use crypto for its cash reserves in March of this year, the company seems to have shown many others how such a transition can be successfully achieved.
Meliuz allocated around 10% of its cash reserves ($4.1 million), which purchased 45.72 Bitcoin.
Since then, the company held a shareholder vote, which has resulted in the company using Bitcoin as its primary asset and saw the creation of a Strategic Bitcoin Committee in the company.
The Crypto Revolution
Whilst Meliuz is certainly forerunning when it comes to business practice using crypto in Brazil, the country in general has had a large-scale adoption of digital assets and cryptocurrency in recent years.
The government chose to legalize crypto payments countrywide in 2022 and since then, it is estimated that around 12% of the population has invested in some form of cryptocurrency or digital asset.
Alongside this, major banks and fintech companies in Brazil have successfully managed to adopt crypto into their practices and crypto trading has become a lot more prominent.
This adoption comes alongside stringent governmental regulations that continue to tighten the security of the market within the country, which is promoting transparency and halting malicious fraud.
Meliuz will join a wave of US businesses that have tried to strengthen their long-term financial plans by adding Bitcoin to their portfolio.
The likes of MicroStrategy, GameStop and Sequans Communications have all started to adjust their business plans and investment policies to allow for the purchase of Bitcoin reserves, which have in turn increased their financial security and added wealth to the companies.
Despite other companies being able to carve a niche, Meliuz has extra hurdles to overcome in the American market.
Whilst they may rule the roost when it comes to fintech in Brazil, Meliuz will face intense competition to contend with in America, with giants such as Venmo, PayPal and Rakuten already firmly established.
For them to flourish and continue their growth, they will need to offer a different kind of service to people or carve out a niche market that relies on their services.
