93-year-old iconic leftist Noam Chomsky says, “We live in the United States in a kind of totalitarian culture that has never existed in my lifetime.”

He said that this totalitarian culture is in many ways much worse than that of the pre-Gorbatchev Soviet Union. In the 1970s, people in the Soviet Union could get BBC, Voice of America, and German television if they wanted to catch up on the news.

Today in the United States, if you want to find out what Russian Prime Minister Lavrov is saying, it’s impossible. It’s blocked.

Americans are not allowed to hear what the Russians are saying. They can’t access Russian sources, which means that good American journalists are shut out because they might have a program running on RT.

If you want to find out what the enemy is saying, which is of paramount importance, you might be able to turn on Indian state television and find out.

But the U.S. has put incredible limits on freedom of access to information. They go beyond post-Stalin Soviet Russia.

Noam Chomsky is an icon of the left, known for his strength of character, brilliance, and omniscience.
