Last Tuesday, November 8, the well-known “Midterms” was held in the United States, the “midterm” general elections.
Although, at the time of writing this article, the results are still partial, it has become clear that, unlike the other US states, the “red tide” did reach Florida with everything.
Ron DeSantis and Marco Rubio have been re-elected again as governor and senator, respectively, with a wide clearance.
Even in Miami-Dade County, the Republicans prevailed a situation that did not occur 20 years ago.
According to the Federal Law of the United States, the “midterms” must be held on a Tuesday, the day after the first Monday of November.
This criterion is based on a historical root since performing them on a Sunday harms freedom of worship.
Likewise, the agricultural world historically designated Wednesday as a day of sale.
Along these same lines, the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November is established to avoid coinciding with All Saints’ Day (Nov. 1).
According to Reuters reports, the 2022 midterms have been held with a weakened presidential figure, as President Joe Biden only has 39% approval.
The country exceeded 8% inflation in October, affecting the increase in the cost of living for North Americans.
The migratory crisis does not let up, a product of leftist rulers who have destroyed the countries of Latin America.
In addition, from a positive side, we have the recent ruling of the Supreme Court that repealed abortion as a constitutional principle, with the case “Roe versus Wade”.
However, in the midterms of 2022, all the members of the House of Representatives (435 seats), 34 Senators (of 100 seats in total), and 36 governors have been elected.
Before the midterms, the composition of the Senate was even, with 50 seats for Republicans and Democrats.
In the House of Representatives, of the 435 seats, the Democratic Party was the majority with 220 seats, while the Republican Party had 212 representatives.
Although there are no official results so far, it is possible to affirm that the Republicans swept Florida.
Ron DeSantis (44 years old) was re-elected for four more years as governor of Florida with 59% of the vote, who displaced his Democratic rival, Charlie Crist, by 20 points.
In fact, DeSantis has been seen as the “big winner” of these elections, revealing that Florida is one of the strongholds of the Republicans.
DeSantis is a lawyer from Harvard University, served in the US Navy, and was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012.
Then, in 2018, he was elected Governor, and now he has been re-elected for one term. plus.
Let us remember that the governor of Florida has stood out for opposing the totalitarian policies of masks, total closures, and the mobility pass in the context of the pandemic.
He was also one of the first to open schools in this period.
Likewise, it has been a strong reference to the values of dignity and freedom, as it has resisted the slogans of the North American “woke” world, such as gender ideology, abortion, and segregation in schools due to racial antagonisms.
Moreover, this great victory for Ron DeSantis has positioned him as a possible presidential candidate for the year 2024.
This puts tension on the possible aspirations of former President Donald Trump to return to the White House, who maintained that next Tuesday, Nov. 14 will give an announcement at his residence in Mar-A-Lago.
However, DeSantis has avoided referring to the possible primaries of the Republican Party.
For all of the above, Ron DeSantis was on the cover of the New York Post, which showed him as “the future of the Republican Party.”
On the other hand, Marco Rubio obtained 55.9% of the votes, displacing his Democratic opponent Val Demings.
Rubio obtained 300,000 more votes than in the previous midterms, even though his opponent invested 25 million dollars more than him in the campaign.
Thus, he begins his third term as senator.
Rubio even ran in the 2016 presidential election, however, the primaries were won by former President Trump.
The Florida state senator is a Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and Foreign Relations member.
In the latter he presented a solid conviction to oppose the Chinese monopoly in the manufacture of medicines.
Marco Rubio (51 years old) is a lawyer from the University of Miami and studied Arts at the University of Florida.
In addition, he is Catholic, the son of Cuban immigrants, and has been a clear opponent of the Chavista dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro, and his relations with drug traffickers in the United States, and the Latin American left.
There is no doubt that the Latino vote has had an impact on these elections. They are the 27% of the US population, being key during electoral times, and 41% of the population of Miami-Dade County born outside the US.
This was verified before the midterms since the Latino vote was favorable to DeSantis and Marco Rubio.
In short, there is no doubt that Florida has jumped on the red wave.
The political commentator Ben Shapiro wrote on his social networks “Make America Florida”, inviting the rest of the United States to join the ideas of freedom and respect for human dignity without falling into false slogans. of progressivism that, as they do all over the world, install antagonisms and false conflicts.
