Brazil: Petrópolis Imperial Christmas will have a 20-meter tree and a Beer Village
The traditional Imperial Christmas of Petrópolis has announced a diverse program that will mix atmospheres of different strands in the attractions for 2022.
The proof is that among the main attractions will be a 20-meter high tree at Praça da Liberdade, shows that tell the story of the Brazilian Imperial Family in the city, a brewery village for the cold beer enthusiasts, and even a big screen to watch the World Cup matches during the same period.
Despite so much variety, the focus of the agenda is Christmas. The Secretary of Tourism of Petrópolis in Rio state said that there would be more than 20 points of illumination and special decoration in the streets, highlighting the Quitandinha Palace, which will receive lights and a special program for the season promoted by SESC.

The São Pedro de Alcântara Cathedral will house a nativity scene, and the Crystal Palace will undergo a transformation and become home to the Santa Claus House to welcome children.
Typical local handicrafts will also be sold there for those who want to buy gifts for friends and family.
There will also be concerts, choir presentations, orchestras, bands, musical and vocal groups, Christmas plays, and shows – among them those that will highlight the importance of Petrópolis in Empire Brazil since that is where Dom Pedro 2nd, Empress Teresa Cristina, Princess Isabel, and Count D’Eu lived and rested.
Although most of the activities will be concentrated in the Liberdade Square and Crystal Palace, as well as in the surrounding areas, 16 de Março Street will have the already famous Tunnel of Light, which will be the stage for cultural attractions during the 40 days of celebration, as well as the Fashion Pole in Teresa Street.
The Christmas decoration circuit will also include the streets do Imperador, da Imperatriz, Marechal Deodoro, Padre Siqueira, General Osório, and Alfredo Pachá; the avenues Koeler, Tiradentes and Ayrton Senna; Quitandinha, Bingen, and Municipal Prefeito Paulo Rattes Park (in Itaipava); the squares of Expedicionários, Dom Pedro and Inconfidência; the Clock of the Flowers and the São Pedro de Alcântara Cathedral.
The event’s main points will also host food and beverage stands and food bikes that will promote local gastronomy.
The Petrópolis Microbreweries Association will be behind the Beer Village, which will be open during the entire Imperial Christmas, welcoming visitors who want to taste the varieties of beer produced in the city.
The Beer Fest, organized by Deguste, will take place in Pracá Visconde de Mauá on four weekends in December: 2 to 4, 9 to 11, 16 to 18, 22 to 24, and January 6 to 8, 2023.
Finally, with the World Cup out of season in 2022 and coinciding with the holidays, a big screen will also be installed in the Praça da Liberdade to broadcast the games.
The Petrópolis Imperial Christmas begins on November 30, although a concert on December 1 will officially open the festivities at the Praça da Liberdade.
The entire celebration will continue until January 8. Visitors can keep track of updates in the schedule, which should honor local artists, on the website and through the hotline at 0800 024 1516 or via WhatsApp: +55 (24) 2237-3321.
The attractions will operate from Monday to Saturday, from 9 AM to 5 PM, and on Sundays and holidays, from 9 AM to 2 PM.
