RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Rock in Rio, one of the world’s main music festivals, has deferred its next edition, previously scheduled for September and October this year, to September 2022. The deferral was prompted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Rock in Rio mobilizes people inside and outside the City of Rock. We host tourists from virtually every state, and also from over 70 countries. There are 28,000 people working to provide fun and joy to the 700,000 people who visit us. Let’s preserve lives at this time. In September 2022 we will be together again and ready for the best Rock in Rio ever, when we will celebrate peace and life,” said the president of Rock in Rio, Roberto Medina, in a statement published on the event’s website.
The festival’s next edition will be held on September 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th 2022. According to the organizers, negotiations with bands are ongoing and some should already be announced in the first half of this year.
