Distrustful of the Brazilian military, Lula da Silva will have Federal Police security

The security of the president-elect, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), will be the responsibility of the Federal Police (PF) at the beginning of his administration in 2023.

He does not feel safe with the military personnel assigned to the Institutional Security Cabinet (GSI) of the Presidency.

The measure empties the ministry responsible for the mission.

The decision is provisional, and Lula da Silva's allies say it is necessary to maintain presidential security with the Federal Police in the face of extreme political polarization.
