Brazil’s grain crop 2021/2022 expected to reach record levels, says minister

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The 2021/2022 grain harvest may reach 291 million tons thanks to the sector’s enthusiasm for prices and the excellent performance of Brazilian agriculture.

The assessment comes from the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, Tereza Cristina, who interviewed this Tuesday (28) on the program A Voz do Brasil.

“There are several aspects that contributed to the rural producer producing more and more. We have here the expectation and the estimate of a record harvest, not only with an increase in the area but also with an increase in production and productivity. This is a good estimate,” she said.

According to her, the numbers may fluctuate a little more or less, depending on the rainfall situation in the country. “For now, we have good prospects. We have a little bit of drought, very punctual, in Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, and in my state, Mato Grosso do Sul. In the rest of the country, it has been going very well.”
