Brazil: 20 parliamentarians to go to China with Lula

The Planalto informed the House of Representatives that 20 parliamentarians would be part of President Lula’s entourage on his trip to China from March 26 to 30 this year.

Lula is expected to participate in a business mission and a meeting about the change in the presidency of the BRICS Bank, a bloc that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.

The position is expected to be taken over by former president Dilma Rousseff.

To German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who was in Brazil in late January, the Brazilian president said he intended to propose to Xi Jinping to create a group for peace dialogue that would include China.

The Chinese government has a good relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

TRIPS ABROAD

Lula’s first international trip was to Argentina and Uruguay in January, when he promised to allocate, via the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), US$700 million for an Argentine gas pipeline.

Last week he went to the United States, where he met with US President Joe Biden.

Lula’s next trip will be to Portugal between April 22 and 25.

The expenses for the trip to China will be paid from the Parliament’s public funds.
