Brazil has the fourth-largest Twitter user base in the world
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Brazil has the fourth-largest user base of the social network Twitter, bought on April 25 by billionaire Elon Musk for US$44 billion. In January, 19.05 million Brazilians accessed Twitter, according to information collected by data analysis company Statista.
In first place is the United States, with 76.9 million microblog users. Following are Japan (58.9 million) and India (23.6 million), according to Statista.
The social network reported reaching 217 million “monetizable daily active users” (mDAU) in the fourth quarter of 2021, increasing 13.02% over the 192 million recorded a year earlier.

In its statement, the company said it considers people who logged in or were authenticated and accessed Twitter on a given day from both the twitter.com web browser address and from Twitter applications that can display ads.
By this measure, Twitter reported reaching 38 million monetizable daily active users in the U.S. in the fourth quarter, up from 37 million a year earlier. The international base totaled 179 million, a 2.9% increase over the same period last year.
Musk bought Twitter for US$54.20 per share, a value 38% higher than on April 1st, one day before the Tesla and SpaceX founder announced his interest in buying the social network.
