Bolsonaro: pets may board with Brazilians in Poland

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – President Jair Bolsonaro said on Friday, March 4, that the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) would transport the pets of Brazilians who are in Warsaw, Poland, and who will be repatriated next week on a flight being organized by the Brazilian government.

“After contact with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Defense, I gave the green light to the FAB for the boarding of the dogs that will accompany those Brazilians on their return to their homeland,” the president posted on Twitter. The Brazilian citizens are in Poland after having fled neighboring Ukraine under a special military operation by Russia.

The KC-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft is scheduled to depart from Brasilia Air Base on Monday, March 7, bound for Warsaw, where the Brazilians will board according to the definitions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is coordinating the rescue mission in conjunction with the Ministry of Defense.

The outbound flight will transport 11.5 tons of humanitarian aid material donated by Brazil. The KC-390 is expected to return to Brazil on Thursday morning, March 10.
