Bolsonaro government: 52% disapprove and 39% approve -PoderData, June 19-21

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A PoderData survey conducted from June 19 to 21, 2022, shows the disapproval rate of the Bolsonaro government is 52%. The percentage is the same as in the last survey.

The government’s approval rating also showed stability in 15 days. It oscillated from 37% to 39% in the period. Since the beginning of March, this rate has varied in the 35% to 38% range.

Now, the difference between approval and disapproval is 13 percentage points. It was already 36 p.p. in the passage from August to September 2021. One month ago, it was 16 p.p.

DEMOGRAPHIC HIGHLIGHTS

• gender – only 31% of women approve of the government; among men, the rate rises to 48%;
• age – approval is highest among adults aged 25 to 44 (41%) and those aged 45 to 59 (42%);
• region – residents of the Center-West (53%) are those who most approve of the Bolsonaro administration;
• income – approval falls to 34% among those with family incomes of up to 2 minimum wages.

BOLSONARO’S WORK

PoderData also asked the interviewees about their evaluation of Jair Bolsonaro’s (Liberal Party – PL) work. For 51%, the president’s performance is “bad” or “terrible”, while 31% evaluate him as “excellent” or “good”. Those who consider it regular are 16%.

Bolsonaro’s “good/very good” rating had been swinging upwards from December 2021 until the end of February 2022. The favorable movement was interrupted mid-March when the curve swung from 30% to 27%. After this period, the rate remains in the 27% to 29% range.

GAP: 20 P.P.

The gap between those who think Bolsonaro’s job is “bad” or “terrible” and those who rate him as “great” or “good” is 20 percentage points. It is the same as 15 days ago. The largest gap was 35 p.p. in November 2021.

STRATIFICATION

Men (37%) and those living in the Center-West (42%) are the ones who find the president’s job “good” or “great”.

Those who live in the Northeast (65%), on the other hand, consider it as “bad” or “terrible”. For 53% of the elderly over 60 years old, Bolsonaro’s work is negatively evaluated.
