Argentine government announces bill to promote hydrogen investments

The Argentine Minister of Economy, Productive Development, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Sergio Massa, announced today that the Executive will send a bill to Congress in the coming days to promote hydrogen investments.

“I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that next week we will be submitting the law that gives stability to hydrogen investments for the next 30 years”, Massa informed during an event in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, province of Río Negro, in the south of Patagonia, Argentina.

The head of the economic portfolio highlighted Argentina’s potential in the “battle” for world energy security.

In this sense, he considered that investments in hydrogen would allow the development of gas, wind, and solar energy projects.

“We have everything to win the game on the value of energy and energy transition; we can become a major player in that battle for global energy security,” he emphasized.

“Somehow, that also helps us to generate added value around the energy system, to generate employment, to generate investment, and to change the economic and productive matrix of many of our provinces,” he added.

The official highlighted the need for the Argentine State to promote value-added exports, which must be added to foreign sales of raw materials.

“It seems to me that adding value to gas, oil, corn, wheat, to each of the primary commodities is key because it generates jobs for Argentines”, he reiterated.

Massa visited the Patagonian city on the occasion of launching Alipiba II, a high-voltage power line connecting towns in the districts of Río Negro and Neuquén.
