Argentina Markets Steady As Dollar Bands Hold, Merval Extends Rally
Key Points
- USD/ARS held near 1,429.5 on ICE, while short-term momentum stayed oversold.
- The blue premium stayed near 3%, a sign of calm but still policy-driven pricing.
- The Merval closed around 3,047,553, with gains led by utilities and banks.
The peso’s morning trade looked controlled, even as investors kept one eye on global politics. On the ICE benchmark, USD/ARS printed 1,429.5 around 08:10 UTC, flat on the session and slightly below the prior day’s levels.
The charts show why the market feels calm but not relaxed. On the 4-hour view, RSI sat near 23, an oversold signal after the recent slide from the mid-1,450s.
The daily picture was more stable, with price compressing inside a tight range. Support clustered near 1,423, while resistance sat around 1,441–1,442. The key signal for locals remained the gap between official and street pricing.

The blue dollar sat near 1,500 for selling and the Banco Nación rate near 1,455. That is a premium of roughly 3%. Financial dollars stayed close, with MEP near 1,466 and CCL near 1,518.
That narrow spread is not a declaration of victory over inflation. It is a sign that the current rules are working. It also shows how quickly confidence depends on follow-through.
Investors still punish improvisation and reward predictability. Wednesday’s session leaned into that logic. Reports said the central bank bought about $107 million in the FX market and reserves rose above $45 billion.

The wholesale rate ended near 1,430.49, down slightly on the day. Equities responded with a clear risk-on move. Your charts show the S&P Merval closing at 3,047,553.39, up 3.58% on the day, and up 3.90% on the week.
The 4-hour chart also showed a strong upswing, up 2.28%. Market chatter was split between optimism and caution.
Some traders argued the market strengthened through the day, with stocks outperforming bonds. Others pointed to demand for corporate placements and high real rates as pillars supporting the FX regime.
