Achievements defended by Brazil’s Bolsonaro: Low inflation, unemployment combat, increased security

Questioned on social networks by a journalist about the reasons to vote for him in the ballotage, the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro (Liberal Party – PL, right), highlighted on Friday the broad achievements of his government to defend his reelection.

Thus, the president pointed out to journalist Madeleine Lackso via Twitter that, during his administration, there has been the “biggest reduction” in the homicide rate in Brazil in recent years, all through policies aimed at prioritizing the safety of citizens.

In the same sense, he reminded Lackso that he promoted the increase of the maximum penalty for crimes committed from 30 to 40 years.

Hey also organized the elimination of temporary release from prison of criminals who committed serious crimes.

Likewise, he boasted of his economic management.

Due to tax reduction the nation has inflation lower than that of the United States and the United Kingdom.

The unemployment rate is at the lowest level since the “recession caused” by the Workers’ Party (PT, left) in 2015 and the one that has also hit the world in the context of the pandemic and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

In addition, the conservative leader highlighted that he has advocated for citizens’ entrepreneurship by promoting a legal framework that helps the establishment of small businesses or “startups”.

He has eliminated corruption networks by reducing the size of the state apparatus and placing the operation of ports and airports in the hands of private factors.

Concerning the State’s functioning, Bolsonaro has stressed that he has also advocated adopting a criterion of independence for appointments to technical responsibilities in State ministries and banks.

Regarding social assistance, the president pointed out that his administration has been in charge of reforming Brazil’s pension system and promoting sports and educational assistance.

Thus, he recalled that the “largest increase” in salaries for elementary school teachers was approved during his administration.

Bolsonaro will dispute with the former president and ex-convict Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva the presidential runoff in the South American country next October 30.
