Wilco takes its destination concert format to Africa for the first time next March. Three nights in Marrakech come bundled with hotels, shuttles and optional tours across Morocco.

Wilco, the Chicago rock band led by Jeff Tweedy, plays three nights in Marrakech next March. The shows run from Thursday, 25 March 2027, to Saturday, 27 March 2027, at the Palm Events Center outside the city.

They are the band’s first concerts in Africa, and they are sold only as travel packages with hotels and transfers. For US fans, nonstop flights to Casablanca from four US cities make the trip simpler than it may look.

Wilco’s First Shows in Africa

Wilco formed in Chicago three decades ago and has released 13 studio albums, winning multiple Grammy Awards along the way. The current lineup is Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche, Pat Sansone, Nels Cline and Mikael Jorgensen.

Each of the three Marrakech nights will have a different set, with no songs repeated. The format follows three sold-out nights in Iceland in 2023, which the band also staged with Pilgrimage of Sound.

Pilgrimage of Sound builds trips around concerts and presents the Marrakech shows with Dayglo Presents. Dayglo is the live music company led by promoter Peter Shapiro, whose venues include Brooklyn Bowl and The Capitol Theatre.

Local support acts are still to be announced, the organiser says in its official FAQ. Traditional Gnawa musicians, who play a Moroccan spiritual music tradition listed by UNESCO, will also perform at the venue.

The band’s own website lists the Marrakech dates after its sold-out Winterlude shows at the Chicago Theatre in December 2026. Its next listed Wilco concert after Morocco is the Azkena Rock Festival in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, on 18 June 2027.

The Venue and Getting There

The organiser describes the Palm Events Center as lying just outside Marrakech but has not published a street address. Package holders do not need one, because shuttles run from every package hotel to the venue and back each evening.

Guests in riads inside the old walled medina are dropped at a point less than five minutes’ walk from their riad. The organiser says door-to-door drop-off is not possible in the medina’s narrow lanes.

Hotel packages use properties such as Kenzi Rose Garden, Mövenpick Mansour Eddahbi and Radisson Blu Carré Eden in the newer districts. Riad packages place guests in restored courtyard houses in the old city, including Riad Si Said and Riad Dar Zaouia.

All packages include round-trip transfers from Marrakech Menara Airport, the city’s international airport. Transfers from Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca can be added for an extra charge.

How Tickets and Packages Work

Single-night and show-only tickets do not exist for these concerts. Every ticket comes inside a package sold on wilcoinmorocco.com, with payment handled by the Tixr ticketing platform.

General sale opened on Friday, 12 June, after presales for past Wilco event guests and registered fans. On 15 October, both the organiser’s site and the band’s website still showed the shows as on sale.

Each package covers four or five nights from check-in on Wednesday, 24 March 2027, with daily Moroccan breakfast. Tickets are held at will-call at the hotel, and a merchandise pack is shipped home in advance.

The shows are general admission, with a seated section offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Lead guests can later request a seat in the event’s passport app, but seats are not guaranteed.

Nightly VIP upgrades add a viewing area, early entry, food and drink, show recordings and exclusive merchandise. Package and upgrade prices are not shown on the organiser’s public pages, so they are not published here.

Optional day trips run from US$132 for a half-day souks walk to US$494 for a sunrise balloon flight. Multi-day tours before or after the shows range from US$1,402 for a short Sahara trip to US$9,482.

An interest-free payment plan covers purchases made before Saturday, 23 January 2027, with 15% due at checkout and a US$19.99 fee. The full balance must be paid by Wednesday, 24 February 2027, or the tickets are void.

Name changes are free until 60 days before the shows and cost US$49 after that. The event runs rain or shine, and the organiser offers transfers to another guest rather than refunds.

Flights, Entry and Time for US Visitors

Royal Air Maroc, the national airline, flies nonstop to Casablanca from New York JFK, Washington Dulles and Miami. Since June 2026, it has also flown three times a week from Los Angeles on Boeing 787 jets.

From Casablanca, travellers can continue to Marrakech on a connecting flight or by train. Delta began flying Atlanta to Marrakech three times a week in October 2025, so check its timetable for late March.

US citizens do not need a visa for tourist stays under 90 days, the State Department says. Passports must be valid for at least six months on arrival and have one blank page for the entry stamp.

Morocco dropped its 2018 GMT+1 clock and returned permanently to GMT on Sunday, 20 September 2026, under Decree No. 2.26.530. As a result, Marrakech will be four hours ahead of New York and seven ahead of Los Angeles on show nights.

US clocks move forward on Sunday, 14 March 2027, which sets that four-hour gap with the East Coast. Marrakech will also share London’s clock that week, because Britain changes only on Sunday, 28 March 2027.

Safety, Money and Local Customs

The State Department rates Morocco at Level 2, exercise increased caution, because of the risk of terrorism. Its advisory, reissued on 4 September 2026, warns that large public events, popular hotels and markets can be targets.

Moroccan dirhams may not be taken out of the country, so change leftover cash before you fly home. Keep your exchange receipts, because dirhams can be converted back to dollars only with proof of the original exchange.

Alcohol is served legally in licensed hotels, restaurants and bars, but the organiser advises discretion in this mostly Muslim country. At the venue, several bars will sell alcoholic and soft drinks, and food vendors will trade from doors until the end.

The organiser expects late March afternoons of 21 to 25°C (70 to 77°F), with cooler mornings and evenings. Pack a light jacket for the late shuttle rides back to the city.

What It Means for You

For US fans, Wilco in Morocco is a package holiday built around three concerts, not a show with a simple ticket. Budget for flights, meals, tips and excursions on top of the package, since none of them are included.

If you already hold a package, check your passport now, because six months of validity on arrival is required. Also reset calendar invitations and flight alerts for Morocco’s new GMT clock.

If you are still deciding, the payment-plan deadline of Saturday, 23 January 2027, is the key date. After that, buyers must pay the full package price at checkout.

What Is Not Known

Door times, set times and the local support acts have not been announced. The organiser has also not published the street address or the capacity of the Palm Events Center.

Package prices and remaining availability are not shown on the organiser’s public pages. Delta’s Atlanta to Marrakech timetable for late March 2027 could not be confirmed for this guide.
