The events are produced by REI Rio (Rede de Estudantes de Intercâmbio – Rio de Janeiro) and are a great way to meet new people, learn new languages and to help others learn.

Tonight the Karaokê Indie party will keep the Saint Patrick’s Day celebrations going at Casa da Matriz. There will be green beer and tonight’s promotions will also include two for one on five drinks: caipirinha, caipivodka, Hi-Fi, Cuba Livre and Mojito.

Copa Funk Party (Copacabana)
The Copa Funk Party is back at Copacabana’s Fosfobox tonight with DJs Dorly Neto and Haron Dufau spinning the best of funk, hip-hop, and Latin rhythms. Event promotions include unlimited caipifrutas from 11PM to 12AM.

Lu Fogaça and Trio (Gamboa)
Tonight at Trapiche Gamboa it’s time for a roda de samba with Brazilian singer-songwriter Lu Fogaça and his trio. The group will blend modern music with samba, forró and MPB. They are well known for their reinterpretations of works by João Nogueira, João Bosco, Baden Powell, Vinicius de Moraes, Chico Buarque and Luiz Melodia, among others.

Nilze Carvalho and Marcos Ariel & Tigres da Lapa (Centro)
Tonight at Rio Scenarium, flutist, pianist and singer-songwriter Marcos Ariel will start off the night by performing his compositions as well as his reinterpretations of works by Ernesto Nazareth and Tom Jobim, among others. During his show he will be accompanied by the group Tigres da Lapa. Following thier show, beginning at 10:30PM, singer-songwriter and mandolinist Nilze Carvalho with perform her lively samba works.

Marcelle Motta and Pedro Holanda (Lapa)
Singer and guitarist Pedro Holanda will start things off tonight at 7:30PM at Carioca da Gema and singer Marcelle Motta will follow at 9:30PM with her powerful repertoire of samba.

On Wednesday nights in March, the Baile Da Tchuguderia party at Lapa’s Leviano bar is celebrating new music in Rio. Event week Angelo B, Udi Fagundes and Cláudio Costa of the band Gabriel Pensador will play live and welcome a special guest. DJ Chicote will also spin during the night.
