U.S. Will Not Tolerate This Any Longer, Says Trump About Zelensky

U.S. President Donald Trump declared on March 3, 2025, that his administration would no longer tolerate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s handling of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Trump’s statement came in response to Zelensky’s March 2 remark that the conflict’s end was “very far away.” This comment followed a tense February 28 meeting at the White House, where the two leaders clashed openly.

The events underscore a widening rift between the United States and Europe over strategies to address the ongoing war. Trump criticized Zelensky for what he described as resistance to peace efforts. He accused him of prolonging the conflict to maintain U.S. support.

“This is the worst statement Zelensky could have made, and America will not tolerate it much longer,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. Following their meeting, Trump suspended $1 billion in military aid to Ukraine, signaling a shift in U.S. policy toward prioritizing negotiations with Russia.

Trump claimed Russian President Vladimir Putin was open to talks and accused Zelensky of risking escalation by refusing to engage. In contrast, European allies remain committed to military support for Ukraine.

U.K. Announces $2 Billion Aid Package for Ukraine

On March 2, U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a $2 billion aid package to enhance Ukraine’s air defense systems, emphasizing that Europe must ensure Ukraine negotiates from a position of strength.

Starmer criticized past agreements like the Minsk Accords for failing to deter Russian aggression. He underscored Europe’s differing strategy from Washington’s push for de-escalation.

Zelensky defended Ukraine’s position, citing widespread destruction caused by Russia and insisting that any peace deal must include security guarantees. However, Trump’s decision has placed additional pressure on Kyiv while exposing fractures within the Western alliance.

The diverging strategies between the U.S. and Europe raise questions about Western unity and its impact on the war’s trajectory. As Ukraine navigates these challenges, Russia could exploit these divisions, potentially consolidating its gains while Western support remains uncertain.
