The Venezuelan Armed Forces destroy 42 aircraft for violating airspace in 2022

The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) of Venezuela have destroyed a total of 42 aircraft used for drug trafficking so far this year for violating the country’s airspace, reported the head of the Strategic Operational Command (Ceofanb), Domingo Hernández Lárez.

“FANB disabled 42 aircraft for violation of Venezuelan national sovereignty during the year, in the Bolivarian Shield 2022 operations,” Hernández Lárez said through his Twitter account.

In another message, the official indicated that military personnel deactivated more than 1,690 gas canisters used as improvised explosive devices by Colombian armed terrorist groups in the border state of Apure, in the south of the country.

On December 8, Hernández Lárez pointed out that the FANB seized more than 40,000 kilograms of drugs in various security operations carried out throughout the country so far in 2022.

For his part, the Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Remigio Ceballos, explained in September that so far this year the seizure of drugs in Venezuela increased 39% compared to 2021. 

The Government rejected in September that the United States include Venezuela on the list of countries that do not cooperate against drug trafficking, considering that the measure lacks legality.
