São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro Exceed 100,000 Vaccinated Against Covid-19 (January 25th)

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – With virtually all states executing their vaccination plan, Brazil reached 700,000 people immunized on Monday, January 25th. A total of 733,493 people have been vaccinated. São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro states have distributed and administered the most doses to date, followed by the states of Bahia, Rio Grande do Sul and Paraná.

The two states with the highest number of deaths by Covid-19 exceeded 100,000 people vaccinated by 6 PM on Monday. São Paulo, the first to begin immunization with Nurse Monica Calazans, on Sunday, January 17th, has already covered 149,243 people, while Rio de Janeiro has administered 117,516 doses.

On the opposite end of the list are two states which have not yet disclosed data about their vaccination process with transparency, which hinders the collection of data. The only information on immunization in Tocantins and Roraima occurred on the first day with three and 28 people served, respectively.

Brazil is undergoing its first stage of vaccination and should only provide the vaccine to health professionals, those over 60 and people with disabilities over 18 years of age, those living in long-term institutions, indigenous villages and quilombola communities. Immunization is performed with the support of SUS (National Health System) primary care teams.

The survey discloses the vaccination process in the 26 states and the Federal District with data from the Coronavirus Brazil website, cross-checked with the State Secretariats that offer daily information on their immunization process.
