Airlines in Latin America and the Caribbean carried 42.8 million passengers in July 2025, up 4.4 percent from last year, and led global growth at 7.2 percent.

Intraregional routes drove over 60 percent of this surge, showing that neighbors now travel more often within the region. Argentina topped the charts with an 11 percent rise in traffic.

Domestic flights climbed 8.3 percent and international traffic jumped 14 percent, pushing July volumes 6 percent above pre-pandemic levels. Panama followed with 9 percent growth, boosted by big gains on routes to San José, Punta Cana and El Salvador.

Peru set a new domestic record of 1.5 million monthly passengers, a 10 percent increase, while international flights grew 6 percent.

Brazil hit its fifth straight month of record domestic traffic, carrying 9 million passengers—up 4.9 percent—and saw a 13.6 percent jump in international travelers, driven by a 43 percent rise in foreign tourists.

Mexico rebounded with 11 million passengers, edging up 1.8 percent, as both domestic and international travel improved. Colombia’s domestic market ticked up 0.6 percent after months of decline, though year-to-date volumes fell 1.7 percent.

Its international segment grew 6.7 percent, led by stronger links with Brazil, Peru and Ecuador. Caribbean traffic rose 6.2 percent, with Jamaica’s best month of the year—13.1 percent growth to 703,000 passengers—and the Dominican Republic’s routes to the U.S. lifting 5.2 percent.

Chile managed a modest 0.8 percent gain, as domestic traffic dipped 2.4 percent while international demand climbed 4.6 percent. Ecuador saw 4.1 percent overall growth, led by an 11 percent rise in U.S. visitor arrivals.

Behind these numbers lies a broader story of economic renewal and stronger regional ties. Airlines ramped up capacity, governments opened markets and tourists returned in record numbers.

This aviation rebound lowers travel costs, boosts trade and investment, and weaves Latin America’s economies more tightly together.

As carriers continue to expand routes and frequencies, the region cements its role as a rising force in global aviation—and its economic revival takes flight.
