Sunday’s Rio Nightlife Pick
– For those still needing to quench their Carnival thirst, Monobloco will once again parade in the centre of the city on Sunday morning from 9AM.

Starting outside Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil (CCBB) on Rua Primeiro de Março, the bloco will play live with a bateria, singers and musicians as it proceeds through Centro.

With three records released and more than 200 hours spent playing and performing in Rio’s own Fundição Progresso since the bloco’s formation in 2000, Monobloco is one of Rio’s most colorful and most popular Carnival celebrations.

Desfile Monobloco (Centro)
Popular Carnival bloco Monobloco will start at 9AM on Sunday morning outside CCBB in Rio’s Centro area. One of the most famous blocos, the celebration is well-known for the positive energy and live musicians and is expected to attract around 400,000 people.

Boka de Espuma (Botafogo)
For those after a later start, Bloco Boka de Espuma will kick off from 4PM in Botafogo. The bloco is expected to draw a crowd of approximately 10,000 with its traditional samba.

MIX UP no Ouvidor – Ressaca do Carnaval
For anyone who is tired of Carnival’s relentless beat of samba, MIX UP is offering an evening of dancehall, trap and hip-hop in Rio’s Centro. Kicking off at 6PM, the night will feature DJs Pedro Loty, Rodrigo Senna, Daniel DW and Onija spinning tracks until 1AM.

Rogê (Lapa)
It’s time to dance as singer Rogê returns for his weekly show at Lapa’s Carioca de Gema. The lively performer will bring the best of samba through his own works and his versions of Jorge, Jorge Ben, Djavan, among others.

Sunday afternoon drinking whilst eating salgadinhos and watching the sunset at Bar Urca is a regular pastime in Rio de Janeiro. This simple establishment on the bayside has been a hit since 1939.

Mais que Nada (Copacabana)
A cuban themed bar in Copacabana, Mais que Nada serves good tapas-style meals, cold beers and an excellent selection of cocktails and shots. Tonight, they will host the after-beach party. Promotions will include double shots on caipirinhas, caipivodkas and mojitos until 12AM.

Ipanema’s Mexican-themed restaurant-meets-bar is a great spot for a relaxed cocktail and excellent food on a Sunday evening.. Just around the corner from Posto 9, Blue Agave Ipanema is also known for its mostly English-speaking staff and the international crowd which frequents the establishment.
