A former Peruvian foreign minister, a Spanish MEP, and an Argentine deputy spoke out about the political persecution suffered by Carolina Ribera, the daughter of Jeanine Añez.

This Tuesday, the opposition media Página Siete Digital informed that the Public Prosecutor’s Office is secretly investigating Carolina Ribera, daughter of the arrested former president Jeanine Añez, for the alleged crime of legitimization of illicit gains.

For this purpose, the Public Prosecutor’s Office is collecting information from 32 entities, both public and private, to trace her phone calls, trips, and real estate, and, in addition, it is requesting to freeze her bank accounts.

After learning of this very clear political persecution of a new opponent of the MAS regime, the VOX Euro MP Hermann Tertsch, the former Peruvian Foreign Minister Luis Gonzales Posada, and the Argentine congressman, Francisco Sanchez, expressed their concern about this fact, which they described as “political persecution”.

“Luis Arce’s government is already a dictatorship, and nothing he does in the persecution of Bolivian citizens has the slightest credibility. It is a narco-communist mafia similar to Nicolás Maduro, Daniel Ortega, or Miguel Díaz-Canel; charges are invented in La Paz against anyone who speaks the truth,” Tertsch said.

The MEP said that the European Parliament would be watching what happens with the investigation process against Ribera to try to protect human rights in a country of the Iberosphere. He also described this action as “miserable” because “now they want to put the daughter” of their most prized prisoner in jail.

Gonzales stated that the action against Ribera is a vindictive process typical of the “radical leftists” in the region.

He added that they are opening a process to investigate her because “she had the courage” to denounce the abuses of the current government against her mother and other political prisoners at an international level.

“The radical left is vindictive; now they are going after the daughter of former President Añez because she has a great international presence and has dared to denounce all these barbaric acts that occur in Bolivia. We know that the Bolivian justice system responds to power; this mechanism is used to repress the daughter of the former president. This persecution mechanism is applied in Cuba and Nicaragua”, he emphasized.

The Argentine Sánchez, for his part, said that this investigation against Añez’s daughter should lead to paying more attention to what is happening in Bolivia because “political persecution” against the opponents of Evo Morales continues. He added that the reports requested by the Bolivian Prosecutor’s Office to entities are not to do justice.

“It is not right that an arbitrary investigation is taking place; it is being investigated to persecute the daughter of a political prisoner; it shows the characteristic of the radical leftist governments of the region, of which Luis Arce and Evo Morales are part. Of course, this worries us very much because there is political persecution”, he added.
