Lula says he will consolidate relations with China and will invite President Xi Jinping to visit Brazil

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Monday that on his trip to China this week, he will consolidate Brazil’s relationship with the Asian country, which includes an invitation to Chinese President Xi Jinping for an official visit to Brazil.

In an interview with the media outlet Voz do Brasil, Lula explained that this week’s trip intends to seek Chinese investments that will help generate jobs and assets and try to pave the way for the sale of more Brazilian products.

“In China, we will consolidate our relationship,” said the President, who said that the bond had “deteriorated” during the government of his predecessor.

“We will try to convince the Chinese to make more investments here, but we will also try to sell them Embraer airplanes, more soybeans, more corn, more meat,” he explained.

Regarding the invitation to the Chinese President, Lula said that in addition to holding a bilateral conversation, he intends to show Xi the country and projects of interest.

Lula will travel to China this Tuesday after a postponement of the trip due to pneumonia and a viral infection that forced him to rest for a week and take medication.

Lula is scheduled to meet with Xi on Friday (14) in Beijing.

Before that, on the 12th, he will arrive in Shanghai.

On the 13th, he will attend the official inauguration ceremony of former President Dilma Rousseff as the new head of the New Development Bank, the BRICS bank, based in the Chinese city.

On the same day, the Brazilian President will travel to Beijing.
