Lionel Richie Live in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday, March 8th

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Legendary American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Lionel Richie will perform live at Barra da Tijuca’s HSBC Arena on Tuesday, March 8th. Known for his solo hits that include “Hello”, “All Night Long”, “Say You, Say Me”, “Dancing on the Ceiling”, and “Stuck on You” and his hits with The Commodores that include “Brick House” and “Three Times a Lady”, Richie is a four-time Grammy Award winner and is one of the top-selling musicians in history, having sold over one hundred million albums worldwide, to date.

Richie’s influence is so widespread, that the Grammy music Awards paid homage to the artist during the recent 58th edition of the awards held in Los Angeles on February 15th. John Legend, Demi Lovato, Meghan Trainor, Tyrese Gibson, and Luke Bryan participated in a six-song medley together with Richie as part of the tribute.

Richie’s career began in the late 1960s when he joined the band Commodores as co-lead singer. Together with the group, Richie gained success with his that included “Easy”, “Sail On”,”Three Times a Lady”, and “Brick House.”

During the late 1970s and early 1980s, Richie began to branch out from his work with The Commodores, composing the hit song “Lady” for singer Kenny Rogers and performing the duet “Endless Love” with Diana Ross.

In 1982 Richie released his first solo album. Self-titled, the album featured the hits “Truly”, “You Are” and “My Love.” Richie’s follow-up albums, 1983’s Can’t Slow Down and 1986’s Dancing on the Ceiling proved as successful with the latter initially selling over four million copies in the United States.

During the years that followed, Richie would go on to release seven more studio albums including his most recent release, 2012’s Tuskegee.

Fans can expect to hear Richie’s solo hits and some of his best work with The Commodores during the Rio de Janeiro show. The concert is part of a three-city Brazilian tour which will begin in Curitiba on March 6th and, following the stop here, will head to São Paulo on March 9th.
