Latin America’s largest hacker festival in São Paulo offers championships and hiring opportunities
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Roadsec, Latin America’s largest hacker festival, returns in person this year. The event, which focuses on technical knowledge, hiring techies, and networking between the hacker community and businesses, will take place July 9 at Arca in São Paulo.
The festival, which is expected to attract more than 4,000 attendees, will last 14 hours and feature 70 speakers and 108 sessions with various activities such as interactive workshops, panels, and hands-on sessions spread across nine stages and seven thematic axes.
“Our DNA is security, but our community has grown to cover multiple technology areas,” said Anderson Ramos, CEO of Flipside and initiator of the event. “We will have developers, movers, and shakers in general, as well as activists, lawyers, journalists, academics and entrepreneurs in attendance,” he adds.

GOOD HACKERS?
For Ramos, it’s important to understand what “hacker” means these days. “The word hacker was originally used to describe brilliant programmers and a culture of knowledge sharing, access to source code, and technical meritocracy that grew up around them,” he explains.
Ethical and unethical hackers exist in many different areas of the market, not just information security. “A hacker is no longer limited to a specific area of technology, but is present in all its aspects, in different forms and with different ideologies, such as activism, law, anthropology and science in general. Roadsec is constantly modifying itself to welcome them all,” explains the creator of the festival
ROADSEC 2022
Roadsec will feature companies that invest in the tech community, such as C6 Bank, Bitso, VTEX, BTG, and SANS Institute.
Speakers will include companies such as ThoughtWorks Brazil, Apple, Luizalabs, Conta Simples, and Globo, who are looking to establish themselves as employer brands in the region and attract new names to the market at the event.
Between presentations, attendees can interact with C6 Bank’s toy machine or hack a brewery at BTG’s booth. For those looking for a more complex challenge, Roadsec 2022 will feature a Defender model car that challengers can hack.

The program will also feature the finals of #HFBR22, a hacking championship hosted by Hackaflag, in which 12 players will have six hours to close as many security holes in the systems of real companies as possible. First place will receive R$50 thousand in prize money.
Offensive security experts, developers and software engineers will be available after the presentations for attendees to talk and ask questions.
