RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Rock in Rio’s final weekend is upon us, with a host of top international acts still set to take the stage, including Maroon 5 and Coldplay on Saturday, and System of a Down and Guns N’ Roses closing the epic music festival on Sunday. Last night saw Lenny Kravitz and Shakira light up the main Palco Mundo (World Stage).
The headliner for last night, Shakira, performed a duet with Brazilian superstar Ivete Sangalo sending 100,000 fans dancing their hearts out to the Colombian and Bahian sensations.
The festival’s Rock Street has also continued with daily performances by some of Rio’s own expatriate musicians; Scott Feiner, The River Country Trio, Mark Lambert e Orquestra Rádio Swing, and Alan Pratt.
Event organizers released that about 90,250 trips were made each of the first four days of festival. As of 1:30AM last night, Friday saw 863 medical incidents for cases such as persistent headaches and alcoholic poisoning.
As well as the lucky concertgoers at the event in Cidade do Rock (City of Rock) in Barra da Tijuca, millions more are reported to be watching on TV and online coverage of the performances, Multishow is broadcasting live in Brazil, and Youtube is showing constant streams of this epic festival.
