Helicopter disappears with three people on board in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) reported the disappearance of a helicopter carrying three passengers in the dense Amazon rainforest.
For unknown reasons, the aircraft went missing in the region between the states of Amapá and Pará in northern Brazil.
On Wednesday, the helicopter took off from Bona’s base in the Maritepu village at 12:00 local time, with an expected arrival in Macapá, Amapá’s regional capital, by 14:00.
The National Foundation for Indigenous Peoples disclosed that the trio onboard were personnel inspecting landing strips in the Tumucumaque Mountains National Park, a Brazilian natural conservation area.
Commander Pinon from the Tactical Air Group mentioned that the challenging terrain might have led to technical issues during the flight.

The FAB’s Amazon Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Center has coordinated the search operations in the region.
As part of the search efforts, an SC-105 Amazonas aircraft from the Second Squadron of the Tenth Aviation Group joined the mission on Thursday morning, possibly extending the search into the night if required.
