Haddad’s name consolidated for the Ministry of Finance in Brazil’s Lula da Silva government

The former mayor of São Paulo, Fernando Haddad (PT, progressive-globalist), is expected to be the Finance Minister in Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) government, according to Poder360.

Haddad is a name Lula da Silva trusts.

He came out stronger after running for governor of São Paulo. Despite losing to the Bolsonaro Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), he obtained the best result for the PT in the state’s history.

The name of the former minister of education was always one of the favorites to assume the portfolio. Besides him, the name of Josué Gomes da Silva, president of Fiesp (Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo), was also being considered for the Industry and Commerce portfolio.

Josué has already said that he would accept the invitation to integrate the next government.

Haddad arrived in Brasília with Lula last Sunday (Nov. 27) and participates in the government transition work.

According to Poder360, the former mayor will be one more at the already crowded negotiation table without being formally nominated to the ministry.

That’s why the PT party believes that the nomination is urgent.
