Covid-19: Brazil Totals 132,000 Deaths and 4.3 Million Cases (September 14th)
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – In the last 24 hours, Brazil recorded 381 more deaths by Covid-19, reaching 132,006 lives lost since the start of the pandemic.
The data are included in the Ministry of Health’s daily update released on Monday evening, September 14th. On Sunday, the system counted 131,625 deaths. There are a further 2,498 deaths under investigation.
The number of cumulative cases reached 4,345,610. Between Sunday and Monday, state Health Secretariats notified 15,115 new positive diagnoses of infection by the novel coronavirus. On Sunday, the Ministry of Health panel reported 4,330,455 cumulative cases.
The recorded cases are typically lower on Sundays and Mondays due to the constraints of Health Secretariats in feeding the national system.
On Tuesdays, the figure has been higher due to the submission of data accumulated over the weekend. According to the Ministry’s update, 600,420 people are in follow-up and another 3,608,993 have already recovered from the disease.
State data
The states which account for the highest number of deaths are São Paulo (32,642), Rio de Janeiro (17,003), Ceará (8,698), Pernambuco (7,888), and Pará (6,368).
The states with the least lives lost to date are Roraima (610), Acre (640), Amapá (680), Tocantins (814), and Mato Grosso do Sul (1,085).
