Fourteen Dead in Amazon Fishing Trip Plane Crash

Fourteen people died in a plane crash in Barcelos, Brazil’s Amazonas state, as confirmed by local officials.

Governor Wilson Lima said the victims were tourists on a fishing trip. The plane, an Embraer EMB-110, took off from Manaos, Amazonas’ capital.

The crash happened when the pilot couldn’t find the Barcelos landing strip, known for sports fishing.

Mayor Edson Mendes reported that initial information shows all victims were Brazilian.

Civil Defense teams found 14 bodies, including 12 passengers and both the pilot and co-pilot.
