Brazil is selected to host the World Skateboarding Championships

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The international skateboarding federation World Skateboarding confirmed on Monday (2) that the 2022 World Championship will be held in Rio de Janeiro.

These competitions are considered the most important of the season and are also important for the fight to qualify for the next Olympic Games in 2024 in Paris (France).

According to the Brazilian Skateboard Federation (CBSk), the two competitions will be held at Praça Duó in Rio de Janeiro (RJ). The first will be the RIO World Skate Park World Championships, which will take place from October 2 to 9.

Then it’s the turn of the RIO World Skate Street World Championships, which will take place from October 9 to 16.

“With two World Championships [for Street and Park], World Skateboarding is happy to have Rio de Janeiro as the true home of the best skateboarders in the world. We are very proud to award two such important events to Rio and of course to Brazil,” said World Skateboarding President Sabatino Aracu.

“Brazil will once again become the home of global skateboarding, just as it did in 2019. This is a double success for Brazilian skateboarding. Both institutionally, through the strengthening of the CBSk, and for the skaters themselves, who will be able to compete with the support of the Brazilian public,” said CBSk President Eduardo Musa.
