Haitians detained for entering Chile with false PCR tests will be expelled

By · March 25, 2021 · 1 min read

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The 22 individuals, of Haitian nationality, arrived on a SKY flight from Port-au-Prince, carrying the test results as they are mandatory to enter Chile and these must be no more than 72 hours old.

However, according to Sub-prefect Harry Cerda, head of the PDI Airport Secondary Inspection Department, during the police and Metropolitan Health Seremi inspections, anomalies were detected in the documents.

The Government announced that it will initiate the expulsion proceedings of 22 foreigners who were arrested last Monday for entering Chile with false PCR tests. (Photo internet reproduction)

Thus, when reviewing the QR codes, it was detected that they led to other people’s exams. The falsification of documents also involved five children.

The situation was brought to the attention of the Pudahuel Prosecutor’s Office, which released the 22 adults.

However, the Undersecretary of the Interior, Juan Francisco Galli, indicated this Wednesday that against them “it corresponds to initiate a process of expulsion” from the country, independently of the measures taken by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

He added that what happened is “doubly serious”, because they are trying to enter Chile without complying with sanitary measures and putting the health of the citizens at risk.
