Who Picks What Side in Israel-Hamas Conflict

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has triggered international reactions.

Le Grand Continent, a French news outlet, has reported that 62 countries support Israel. (see list below)

The bulk of this support comes from European nations.

However, the United States is going above and beyond in their backing. President Joe Biden has committed to offering “all appropriate support.”

To bolster this commitment, the U.S. has dispatched two aircraft carriers, the USS Gerald R. Ford and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, to the region.

Conversely, Brazil is advocating for a peaceful resolution. The government is focused on establishing humanitarian corridors.

These pathways would enable civilians to exit conflict zones safely.

According to Defense Minister José Múcio, Brazil was the first country to launch a mission to repatriate its citizens.

As a result, 916 Brazilians have safely returned home as of October 15.

Other nations are also picking sides. For instance, countries such as Germany, Argentina, and Australia have announced their support for Israel.

Meanwhile, nations like Afghanistan, Algeria, and Iran are backing Hamas.

There’s also a third group calling for a de-escalation of military activities. This group includes South Africa, Bolivia, and Russia.

Brazil has chosen to advocate for de-escalation in the conflict as well. Specifically, it focuses on establishing humanitarian corridors to help civilians exit conflict zones.

Countries around the world are reacting in various ways, reflecting the international implications of the conflict.
