Tivoli Park to Return to Rio – This Time in Barra da Tijuca

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A novelty with a taste of nostalgia. Tivoli Park, a huge success with Cariocas in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s when the amusement park was located in Lagoa, Rio’s South Zone, will return to Rio, in a 50,000-square-meter area in Barra da Tijuca, next to Via Parque.

The pre-launch will take place on Saturday, October 10th. In this first stage, the amusement park will feature twenty attractions, two of which are original Tivoli Park rides: the Bicho da Seda (Silkworm), a kind of high-speed carousel with gondolas for two people, and the Barco Viking. The equipment was operating in other parks.

The venue will also feature the largest bumper-car track in Rio, with over 200 square meters, and attractions such as Moveit, Terminator, Kataclisma, and Comic Show, in addition to the traditional Evolution, Kamikase, Taga Disco, Telecombate and the romantic panoramic Ferris wheel.

Children will be able to enjoy rides like the Carrousel, Trenzinho, Pistinha, Jumbos Voadores, Aviãozinho and the Abelhinha and Ligeirinho rollercoasters.

In the next stages of the project, visitors will also be able to venture into the Looping Star roller coaster, as well as other attractions that have been successful in the Lagoa park and will be inaugurated soon, such as the famous Conga, the Castelo do Terror (Horror Castle) and the Casa do Terror (Horror House).

For the pre-launch month, admissions will be free and tickets will cost R$10 for each attraction.

Frederico Reder, the person behind the Tivoli’s resurgence, is inspired by Orlando Orfei, the founder of the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas park. “I want to rebuild the Tivoli close to Rio de Janeiro citizens. This was an old dream, a project that was anticipated because of the pandemic, because I believe that people feel safer with outdoor fun. We are in need of moments of joy and I’m happy to be able to contribute to the resumption of entertainment in the city. After such a difficult period for everyone, I think it’s time to live and relive what is best,’, celebrates Reder.

The maximum capacity allowed complies with city hall rules, as well as the mandatory wearing of masks by both staff and visitors, temperature checks on access to the park and hand sanitizer gel totems spread throughout the venue.

All rides will be sanitized after each use and sanitized weekly, following the City Hall, Health Surveillance and Fire Department’s Golden Rules.
