Covid-19: Three Brazilian international airports will offer Covid-19 vaccination posts

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Ministry of Health on Thursday, December 9, announced that the airports of Brasilia (BSB), Guarulhos (GRU) in São Paulo, and Galeão (GIG), in Rio de Janeiro, will have vaccination posts for Covid-19. Services will start operating next Monday, December 13.

The announcement came on the same day that new rules were published for travelers entering the country. The interministerial regulation establishes a 5-day quarantine for non-vaccinated travelers entering Brazil.

According to the Ministry’s Executive Secretary Rodrigo Cruz, Brasília, Guarulhos and Galeão airports account for the largest volume of international passengers. The goal is to have vaccination posts in operation primarily during the busiest times at terminals.

“Should an incoming passenger be interested in being immunized, the vaccine will be available there,” Cruz said, stressing that newly immunized travelers would still need to comply with a 5-day quarantine before being allowed to circulate in the country.

Cruz added that health authorities are monitoring the current epidemiological scenario and that should there be a worsening of the pandemic, the issue will be readdressed in 30 days.
