RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The São Paulo city hall decided, on Wednesday, 10, to keep the mandatory use of masks in public places in the city. According to the city administration, a new evaluation for release should occur in early December, following the state government’s planning.

The expectation of the city hall is that the release occurs from December on, provided that the city has 95% of the population over 12 years old vaccinated with the two doses. In the latest balance released on Tuesday, 9th, the city has 100% of the adult population with at least the first dose of vaccine, and more than 72% of people with the complete vaccination scheme.

Since the end of October, the city published a decree in which it revoked the recommendations of public restriction, distance and opening hours for public and private establishments in the São Paulo capital.

Despite this, proof of vaccination is required to enter public spaces, such as City Hall, and in events for more than 500 people.

The second-largest city in the country, Rio de Janeiro, released the mandatory use of the mask on October 28. The measure is valid only for open areas.
