Rashmy’s Kitchen is at The Rio Times 6-Year Anniversary Party

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Rio Times 6-Year Anniversary Party is less than a week away now, as it will be held on Thursday, March 26th, from 7PM to midnight in Ipanema. In addition to an amazing penthouse location, great music and drink promotions, the event will feature light appetizers courtesy of Rashmy’s Kitchen authentic Indian food.

In preparing the menu for the event, Rashmy Naik said, “The Rio Times’ Anniversary Party calls for something special! I’ll bring to your plate the very famous ‘Batata Vada’ all the way from Mumbai’s streets, ‘samosas’, the darling of Indian snacks and ‘Onion Pakora’ that is definite to take you on a gastronomic roller coaster.”

Mrs. Naik, originally from Mumbai, came to Rio with her family in 2010. Regarded as an excellent home cook by a strong fan-base here, she started running cooking courses and buffets from her home in Leblon for the last two years.

The humble origins of Rashmy’s Kitchen started to simmer while her husband was out at work all day, as Rashmy Naik saw cooking as a means of filling her time. As she started entertaining new friends at home, they began asking her to teach them about Indian food.

“It was not really my choice to start, everyone just said ‘we’d love you to do some classes’ and it went from there, Rio is a small city so word spread quickly, especially among the expats,” Rashmy Naik told The Rio Times.

Now Rashmy’s Kitchen has a strong following for her classes, which are offered weekly by appointment, as well as event catering and even home delivery. Make sure to book well in advance though, as menus are often set a week in advance, and event catering is booked even further ahead.

Naik shares, “I have always been passionate about cooking and love to tingle taste buds with the wonderful Indian cuisine. Rio is a melting pot for people from all over the world. Participating in this event gives me the opportunity to meet, introduce Brazilians and Expats to India’s rich flavors and curries.”

The Rio Times event on Thursday will take place at a private penthouse residence in Ipanema with 360 degree views, which is provided by co-hosts Rio Exclusive. Music will be by Mary Byker, and partners Leblon Cachaça will provide drinks (with also a cash beer bar present).

Editor and Publisher of The Rio Times, Stone Korshak, explained, “We always make it a priority to work with and support our community of foreigners here, and Rashmy was up for it as well in helping us for this event.” Adding, “If you haven’t tried the authentic Indian food Rashmy prepares, it’s something to come out for in itself.”
