Peru and the USA consolidate their cooperative ties in submarine capabilities

The Peruvian Navy (MGP) has sent Rear Admiral Carlos Alfonso Saz Garcia, commander of the Submarine Force, to the city of Norfolk, United States, to participate in the Submarine Conference of the Americas (Scota 2022), which takes place between July 25 and 27.

The MGP considers its participation in the Submarine Conference of the Americas to be in the best interest of the institution because it allows the exchange of ideas on strategic competencies, submarine capabilities, the challenges of regional security assistance and cooperation, and the cooperation of submarine forces in an era of strategic competition, on littoral and regional threats that may affect international security.

It will also consolidate existing cooperation links between the participating countries and, in particular, strengthen ties with the U.S. Navy.

The Defense and Naval Attaché Office of the U.S. Embassy in Peru sent Letter No. 5700 Ser N00/176 to the General Command of the Peruvian Navy, in which the commander of the Submarine Force of the U.S. Navy invited its Peruvian counterpart and the Commanding General of Pacific Operations, Vice Admiral Luis José Polar Figari, to consider their participation in the Scota 2022, which is being held in the State of Virginia, on the east coast of the United States.

The Secretariat of the General Command of the Navy informs the U.S. Defense and Naval Attaché Office that the invitation was accepted and that Rear Admiral Carlos Saz García, commander of the Submarine Force, will represent the institution at Scota 2022.
